Dinosaur Footprints: 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Gets Special BFGoodrich Tires
The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor will be a new breed of the beast. Fresh looks, less weight, more power – and even special tires.
After more than a dozen variations and hundreds of hours of computer simulations to determine how they would react in real-world driving conditions, Ford and BFGoodrich engineers came up with a set of BFGoodrich all-terrain T/A KO2 tires just for the second-generation Raptor. They were developed right alongside the truck – and they’re used on the Raptor being run in the Best in the Desert race series.
The steel- and nylon-belted BFGs feature a new tread pattern with more tread area, wide channels between the tread blocks, and meaty, life-extending sidewall lugs to enhance off-road performance. They’ll need as much help as they can get staying intact because we know you all intend to be very hard on them, taking them over sharp rocks, pointy branches, and long desert stretches – mostly while in the air.
