Film Fan Creates Rad Replica of Beloved ‘Mater’ Truck from Disney Films, and the 1960 Ford Comes Up for Auction in 2017

Mater is one of the most popular characters in the Cars movie franchise, appearing in all three. And he’s appeared in Cars Toons, a series of animated shorts. Voiced by the beloved and hilarious Larry the Cable Guy, the movie Mater is based on a 1951 International Harvester.

But the builder of this Mater replica decided to do things a bit differently. That’s because his version of the cartoon truck is built on a 1960 Ford 1-ton tow truck. It’s sure to delight kids (and even some adults) everywhere, and this living cartoon is going up for sale at a government auction.

Ford fans should want to check this truck out. That’s because it is all Ford, with a 292 V8 under the hood. Behind it sits a 4-speed manual transmission. Plus, it’s 100% road legal!

Plus, when you really want to make a kid’s day, there are pedal cars in the bed. The truck even has signs faithful to the film’s truck, and there’s a Cars lunch box in the bed. It’s hard to imagine driving this thing anywhere without attracting a crowd.

So, if you are the type of person who likes to make a kid’s day (who isn’t?), this Mater replica might be for you. Moreover, it’s sure to be a hit at every car show, as pretty much every auto enthusiast has seen at least one Cars movie. And as Ford Truck fans, we appreciate the fact that it’s built on the proper base.

So if you’re interested in bidding on this Mater replica, you’ll want to check out the auction here. Bidding opens up on January 10 and runs through Jan. 12.
