Business Insider Compares Raptor to the Silverado Z71
The writer loves the Raptor while comparing the Silverado to a work truck.
Let’s be honest – there is no real competitor for the Ford F-150 Raptor. Chevrolet and Ram continue to introduce packages that loosely compare, but in terms of power and performance capabilities, the 450-horsepower Raptor rules the half-ton segment. Even with that in mind, the folks from Business Insider did a comparison review of the Raptor and the Chevrolet Silverado Z71, and they got the exact results that you would expect.
Reviewing the F-150
This comparison piece begins by looking at the Ford F-150 Raptor. The piece points out the $62,000 price tag, the ample size of the SuperCab interior, the aggressive exterior design and the high-performance 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. For the most part, this portion was positive, with the exception of this odd except about the cargo box:
“The bed was lined for extra durability. The Raptor is a versatile truck, but it isn’t really pitched to customers who are going to put logs, lumber, dirt, bricks, and rocks back here — think mountain bikes, motocross machines, and other outdoorsy, active-lifestyle stuff.”
While the SuperCab Raptor has the shortest bed option possible, it is still perfectly capable of hauling as much as the rest of the F-150 lineup, regardless of their trim level. The Raptor wouldn’t have any problem hauling of those items when it isn’t hauling “motorcross machines”.
Finally, the reviewer praised the improvements of the newest F-150’s Sync 3 infotainment system, pointing out that it has performed well in all of the vehicles that he has tested.
