BUILDUP A 1999 Ford F-250 College Project
Though sometimes building up trucks can be a long and trying process, but, as I’m sure many people who have done it would agree, it is well worth the struggle. Sometimes this is a struggle against time, whereas other times it is a struggle with money or ability.
Sometimes it’s even more than that, as one might be pushing through other trying events, or positive ones as well, while trying to complete their project. FTE member Alex (A.K.A. “alexk3303“) decided to take on building up this 1999 F-250 despite the fact that it has turned into a large undertaking, especially considering everything else that has been going on in his life at the same time.
He picked up the ride for $3000, with 350,000 miles on the odometer. Though he still holds that the price was worth it, this rig doesn’t exactly have a small number of problems. After purchasing the truck he drove to his dad’s place, where they gave it a quick spray down with a power washer and an oil change.
Then he drove it 150 miles back to where he is currently going to school. The next day it wouldn’t start, and with a few unsuccessful attempts to do something to fix it finals came around and he then shipped out on a boat for three months.
After returning back home he found that the oil was actually low, and after adding some it did start (admit it — we’ve all had moments like this). Soon he will be installing new plugs, pulling the injectors to see if they’re causing a rough idle problem, and more. Alex has a lot of plans for this ride, and we’re excited to see where it goes!
