BFGoodrich Presents BUILDUP A 1991 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat
One has to appreciate it when someone takes the times and spends the money to fix up an old Ford truck. Anyone with experience doing it themselves can vouch for the fact that even though sometimes these builds are no easy tasks, they are always well worth it in the end. This 1991 Ford F-150 XLT Lariat build was taken on by Ford truck enthusiast thethrill, and he’s already experiencing some of the reward.
Having bought the truck over the phone based only on what was on the Craigslist ad, what exactly would happen was unknown. Luckily, however, he bought the one owner Ford from an honest Craigslist user, who tested out the truck before he came to pick it up the next day.
It started to smoke but stopped after a minute, and when thethrill arrived the next day the price was adjusted for any potential problems, even to the point of installing a new motor. When he brought it home, thethrill test drove the rig and after approximately one mile the Ford began to smoke ferociously, but one could argue that this was actually for the better!
Thethrill had a Jasper motor stashed away in his garage and this was the perfect opportunity to use it, so instead of worrying about the current engine, he just prepared the Jasper and threw it under the hood! He pulled the old motor and and installed the new one all within nineteen hours on a single Saturday, and by that evening the new truck was running smoothly.
Soon a brake job will be done, the A/C will be fixed, the windows will be tinted, the rust will be repaired, and more. Even so, this truck is already solid and appears to be an excellent candidate for any type of build. Go drop by thethrill’s build thread and show your support!
