BUILDUP 1985 Ford F-150 Flareside Project
This week’s Buildup features FTE member SCFlareside, who is currently taking on the project of building up his 1985 F-150.
Bought from a local mechanic, the F-150 had a 302 HO with EFI from a 1995 F-150 already installed, and with new brakes, bearings, U joints and more, this truck was an excellent deal.
It does require some work though–it has a rust hole at the back of the driver’s side floor pan, a water pump with the wrong bolts, and a bypassed fuel pressure regulator for starters.
So far, SCFlareside has installed the MSD distributor and coil, and is in the process of prepping the bed from his parts truck to move onto his F-150.
The interior of his project truck was well worn, but luckily for this FTE member, his 1981 F-100 parts truck had an intact red interior that he could use.
His long term goal is to restore the truck to the look it would have had in 85’/86′ but slightly upgraded, though short-term he is looking to get it running smooth without breaking the bank.
