Bronco Orders Start January 20 (But Skip These Options if You Want an Early One)
Ford to customers: Bronco orders set to open soon, but these options or trim levels “may lead to extended wait times.” (No Sasquatch Package for you!)
Exciting news for Bronco fans. The Ford Motor Company and its dealer network are set to take 2-door and 4-door Bronco orders starting January 20. To that end, I spoke with my local Southern California dealership yesterday about the process. They recommended finalizing your spec as soon as possible — by at least the 19th. So head on over to the Bronco Build & Price configurator right HERE!
According to Ford, “Customer deliveries will begin in summer 2021 and will continue into the 2022 calendar year. After ordering your Bronco, you will hear from us in May of 2021 with details about when you can expect to receive your Bronco. As a reminder, the timing for your delivery will vary based on reservation timestamp, vehicle model and configuration selected, part constraints, and the number of Bronco vehicles your dealer will receive.”
Bronco Orders to Avoid if You Don’t Want to Wait
In an email Ford sent to folks on its reservation list earlier today, the Blue Oval cautioned again specific Bronco orders, options, and trim levels that “may lead to extended wait times,” including:
- Two‑Door
- Wildtrak Series
- 2.7L Engine
- Sasquatch Package
- Lux Equipment Group
- Leather‑Trimmed Interior
Other Bronco Options & Configurations with Delays
In addition to those popular features, if you spec a Bronco with the Black Modular Painted Hard Top, Dual Top, or All-Black Interior Seating Option on the First Edition, don’t expect to get your Bronco until late summer 2021.
Also, if you want a Roof Rack with your 4-door Sasquatch Package, 7-speed manual Sasquatch Package, or Body Color and White Painted Modular Hard Top, those combinations and options won’t be available until Ford switches over to the 2022 model year.
That being said, given that the 2021 models won’t go into production until this spring, we should expect a truncated 2021 model year. In other words, one might assume 2022 model year Broncos will be available before the end of 2021 (or very early 2022).
It’ll be interesting to see how many folks convert their online reservations to actual Bronco orders. Still, my local dealership has over 400 reservations they’re trying to turn into orders. And even if a small fraction of those become real, buyers should expect to wait weeks or months (just like C8 Corvette buyers learned in 2020).
