Boosted F-150 Destroys a Lambo, Ferrari & Challenger!

By -

Supercharged 5.0-liter V8 makes this F-150 a 10-second quarter-mile machine at nearly 130 miles per hour.

This week’s “Truckin’ Fast Wednesday” video comes to us from the Bigg Redd-85 YouTube channel and it features a newer Ford F-150 tearing up the quarter mile. This footage was captured at a YouTube racing event at Cecil County Dragway, so it was chock full of very fast cars, some of which are driven by very slow drivers. Fortunately, this half-ton Ford packs big power and a driver who knows how to use it, allowing this F-150 to beat a wide variety of high performance cars while covering the quarter mile in the high-10s.

Supercharged V8 Power

There are no details on this Ford F-150 XL, but it is clearly powered by the modern 5.0-liter V8 that has been upgraded with a supercharger. It likely has some other supporting modifications such as a beefed-up fuel system and we can see that it has drag radial tires on all four wheels, so this half-ton Ford has been built to get down the drag strip in a hurry.

F-150 Versus Challenger

It should be noted that this truck is an XL, meaning that it is a base model trim level with the optional V8 and four-wheel-drive system, but as modern Ford trucks go, this is the smallest and lightest, making it the perfect platform for a street-and-strip truck. In the video, it shuts up everyone who questions why the owner chose a truck over a performance car.

Track Action

The video begins with a seemingly unrelated burnout by a Dodge Challenger, but after that, the focus is on the supercharged Ford F-150.

F-150 Kills Lamborghini

The first race takes place against a Lamborghini Huracan and while the truck gets out of the hole in a hurry, the supercar seems to have problems getting through the gears. As a result, the F-150 gets the easy win with a 10.92 at what looks like 129.33 miles per hour.

Next, the boosted Ford truck takes on a Dodge Challenger and beats it so badly off of the line that they don’t bother showing the rest of that run. Each of the runs after the Challenger against the poorly-driven Lamborghini and in both cases, the supercar doesn’t leave the line while the F-150 hands out a beating. On those two runs against the Huracan, the truck runs a 10.91 and 10.90.

F-150 Beats Ferrari

The best race of the video comes at the end, with the Ford F-150 taking on a Ferrari 458. As is the case on every run, the truck gets out first while the car struggles to catch up, but the Ferrari was just too far behind on the start, running a losing 11.78 to the truck’s 10.86.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
