2018 Ford F-150 Base Model Does NOT Suck (Video)
Find out why you don’t have to shell out $50k in order to get into a brand-new, perfectly capable 2018 Ford F-150.
Let’s face it, base model pickup trucks don’t get any love nowadays. If you don’t believe us, do a quick Google search and you’ll see what we mean. All you will find is a bunch of reviews and sleek pictures of Ford’s newest truck dressed in swanky wheels, sporting cool accessories, and rocking luxurious interiors. Namely, Platinum, Lariat, and King Ranch trucks.
What if we told you that Ford’s base F-150 XL, you know, the one without the huge chrome wheels, was still an excellent performer? We’ll save you from having to skip to page five of your Google search!
While Ford rightfully wants consumers to spend more money (like every for-profit business), they also pack lots of value and capability into their base-model trucks. Sure, the others are prettier to look at, but Ford still makes an affordable F-150 for the masses. And like its pricier brethren, it also features a host of upgrades for 2018, which believe it or not, make it a pretty darn nice truck that most certainly doesn’t suck.
That’s the conclusion the folks at The Fast Lane Truck arrived to after spending some quality time in one. The 2018 truck is equipped with a much improved, all-new 3.3-liter V6 which produces 290 naturally-aspirated horsepower. That might not be enough to hang with the EcoBoost crowd, but it’s light-years beyond what it had just a few years ago. Plus, it gets an impressive 25 mpg on the highway thanks to its 6-speed transmission.
With a base price of less than $30-grand, the 2018 F-150 XL represents a great value in today’s pickup truck market!
