Just How Rare are the ’92-95 F-150 Flareside Trucks?
FTE forum members showcase their phat ’90s flaresides while considering just how special these classics really are.
Every now and again, after surfing the net and catching up on all the great new vehicles Ford is sending our way soon, like this, this and this–we like to go deep into the Ford Truck Enthusiasts forums and remember some of the groundbreaking rides that paved the way for these future best sellers.
Recently, while shaking off the side effects of too much whisky-spiked eggnog over a recent holiday weekend, we spent some time surfing through the FTE forums where a thread about about 1992-1995 Flaresides on vintage Ford trucks caught our attention.
OP Brads77f150 wanted to know just “how rare are the 92-95 F-150 Flaresides?”…Also, what is the rarest of this generation flareside…Regular cab…extended cab…5.0L, 5.8L …auto, manual…?”
The response was quick, with fellow FTE forum members providing some interesting personal history about their Ford trucks. Later, the original poster pondered: Was there much difference between the normal F-150 standard cab and the Lightning? I mean, was it a different interior, or just certain options, or was it just really a horsepower/performance issue?”
The rarity of the 92-95 F150 Flaresides is quickly acknowledged by members JohnT, who says they’re “actually very rare (They made way more styleside trucks than they did Flaresides.”), and Vee10td, a Senior User who says the early to mid-Nineties Flaresides are “sorta rare.”
“We had a 1993 black Flareside regular cab 4×4 we bought used back in mid-2001,” says vee10td. “The Flaresides from ’92-’95 are sorta rare. We traded ours in back in 2005 on a new Super Duty. The dealer gave us $4,500 on a trade. They wanted $6,995 for it!”
