2018 Expedition with the FX4 off-road package is designed to enjoy the great outdoors!

According to Ford, approximately 20 percent of Expedition owners use their vehicles for off-road purposes. Whether this is a full-blown off-road adventure, or a weekend at the beach, it commands a specific set of vehicle capabilities.

If you think about it, 20 percent is a pretty large chunk of people, which is why Ford has announced the FX4 Off-Road Package availability for the new 2018 Expedition.

“The FX4 Off-Road package delivers off-road driving confidence,” said Mike Kipley, Expedition vehicle engineering manager. “The technology we’re using works to adapt to different driving conditions so customers can enjoy the adventure without worry.”

All-New 2018 Expedition FX4

The FX4 Off-Road Package includes a variety of upgrades that make the 2018 model the most off-road-capable Expedition ever. A patented electronic limited-slip rear differential, off-road-tuned shocks, all-terrain tires, seven different skid plates, 18-inch Magnetic Metallic-painted wheels, chrome running boards, and rubber floor liners make this Expedition a true badass. Oh yeah, and to top it off, you get special FX4 badging on the liftgate and front fender!

The new Expedition FX4 is equipped with the Terrain Management System, which is also used in the F-Series trucks. This system allows drivers to select from a variety of programmed drive modes that help the Expedition adapt to different road conditions. FX4 drivers will also have the ability to manually select between 2WD and 4WD modes.

Even without the FX4 package, the 2018 Expedition is a beast of an SUV. It comes with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine rated at 375 horsepower, and 470 pound-feet of torque. It also comes with the new 10-speed transmission and 9,300 lb. towing capacity. Clearly, Ford isn’t skimping on the power with this SUV. Like previous models, the Expedition has interior space for days, with seating for 8 people while still providing generous cargo space.

The new 2018 Expedition FX4 goes on sale this fall.
