2018 F-150 Lariat is Redditor’s First-Ever New ‘Car’

2018 Ford F-150 Lariat

The F-150 is a lot of things to a lot of people, but Reddit won’t let a new owner live down the fact he called his new truck a “car.”

There are two things certain about the F-150. The first is that it’s the best-selling truck in the world. The second is that it’s also the best-selling vehicle in North America. And while today’s F-150 has all the comforts of a premium luxury car, it’s still a truck capable of doing the things a truck does. After all, would you want to drop a bale of hay into the back of a Mercedes S-Class?

For one Redditor, though, his 2018 F-150 Lariat is his first-ever “car” he bought new. And this being Reddit, the new owner will come to regret that oversight.

Owned by FlapOperator, this F-150 Lariat Sport SuperCrew Cab looks really great in ruby red, and we’re sure he’ll get a lot out of the four-wheel drive while driving around his Canadian home. However, calling his truck a “car” wasn’t the best choice of words.

Redditor robvas gives it to him straight: “Rule 1: don’t call it a car.” FlapOperator can only laugh at his mistake, stating he’s “still getting used to that.” Another Redditor, internetTroll151, says he should be given a break, since “he’s Canadian”; “car” is probably Canadian English for “truck” for all we know.

FlapOperator is definitely getting the most out of his F-150, though. As he tells fellow Redditor Droidecon, he’s already “[p]ut about 300kms on it in the last 24 hours, took it out into the country today which was awesome.” He adds that picking the Ford over other, lesser brands was a “no-brainer” for him, especially when the dealership hooked him up with the new 2018 model in ruby red after a used 2016 he saw already was sold.
