2017 Super Duty Trucks Reimagined
Truck Customers Configure Super Duty Fleet Trucks to Unique Specifications, and the Results Are Awesome
Ford’s line of heavy duty trucks has long dominated fleet sales, and the 2017 Super Duty fleet trucks promise to continue that trend. With class-leading capabilities and unrivaled technology, the new Super Duty is a perfect fit for small, medium and global companies. And now, five different customers have designed their dream 2017 Super Duty fleet trucks, which they discussed with Business Wire.
These customers run the gamut from oil and gas extraction, to heavy construction and forestry. Although distinctly different industries, their respective customers share one important thing in common. All require reliable and tough heavy duty vehicles. After all, Ford says they “own work,” no?
So what exactly do they desire out of their perfect Super Duty? Electric company Black Hills Energy prefers the 4×4 SuperCab XL. In addition, because of the extreme weather in South Dakota an engine block heater is needed. Tough off-road conditions also lead to the selection of skid plates for protection.
In the construction, utility, and forestry industry, a bigger rig is needed — the F-350 Crew Cab XL 4×4. Here, towing capacity is king, meaning there’s a 6.7 liter Powerstroke diesel under the hood. An F-350 is likewise utilized in manufacturing, but this time in two-wheel drive. For them, only on-road travel is necessary, therefore maximum efficiency is important.
It’s an interesting look into how different fleet customers prefer different configurations. And even though three of the five industries prefer the same base truck, options vary greatly (check out the full list of options here).
