2017 Raptor’s Tire Choice Adds Even More Off-Road Credibility

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor

Earlier today, Derek shared with you the news — and video — that the 2017 Ford Raptor would be covered in BFGoodrich K02 tires specially designed for the Raptor. When it comes to the true off-roading set, there is no tire better. Ford is making a big play by using these tires, and should give the truck even more credibility as an off-roader when it goes on sale later this year.

Ford Performance, as a whole, have an unique deal with Michelin. That’s why everything from the Ford GT to the new Focus RS is wearing Michelin rubber. But for the Raptor, Ford went to BFGoodrich for tires. It only makes sense because the tires are rock solid.

During a recent off-road adventure that I took at a nearby off-road park, I was in a competitor’s pickup truck. Several discussions that day centered around which tires were on the truck, and what tires the others had on their own vehicles. Unfortunately, the truck I had didn’t have the K02 tires, but many of the people at the park had it. Whether it was on their Jeep or their Toyota, or anything in between, K02 tires is what people had so they wouldn’t get stuck.

There are many changes to the new Raptor over the old one. But one thing nobody will be able to complain about is Ford’s choice of rubber. It was developed alongside the truck, competed in the Best in the Desert series, and will be on new Raptors when they go on sale later this year.

What do you think? What tires do you have on your off-roader? Let us know in the comments below or over in the forums!
