2017 Ford Raptor Wishlist: Factory-Installed Winch
While we have a pretty good idea what to expect from the 2017 Ford Raptor when it goes on sale later this year, there are still details that haven’t been finalized. We’ve also been spending a lot of time in off-road trucks recently, and we’re coming up with a list of items we wish would come with the new Raptor, even if they won’t actually include. But hey, a man can dream, right?
One of those items is a factory-installed winch. A winch is useful for a lot of reasons. If you are out on the trail and you get stuck, you can wrap it around a tree and pull yourself out. The same applies if one of your friends get stuck; hook up to them and yank ’em out.
It really surprises me that more vehicles don’t come with winches straight from the factory, especially a vehicle like the Jeep Wrangler or Ford Raptor. There is only one vehicle on sale that comes, from the factory, with a winch installed. That’s the Ram Trucks 2500 Power Wagon.
That leads me to the last reason why the Raptor should have a winch. Ram claims that the Power Wagon is the most-capable off-road vehicle on sale. If you were to put a giant wall at the end of an off-road course, the Power Wagon could lift itself up and over it. That’s how they can make that claim.
The new Raptor, which will be a serious off-road powerhouse, could take that title away from Ram with the inclusion of a winch. Plus, customers would benefit off-road.
