The F-150 continues to shine, as the 2.7-liter EcoBoost nabs the top award from AAA Green Car Guide.

The 2017 Ford F-150 has received numerous awards, including a few that highlight how versatile and reliable the pickup truck is. America’s best-selling truck continues to win accolades, with the latest award coming from AAA Green Car Guide, who’s recently awarded it the ‘Top Green Vehicle’ award in the pickup truck category.

Equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost V6, the 2017 F-150 4X2 can deliver up to 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, therefore landing it a best-in-class fuel economy.

“Many drivers need the flexibility of a larger vehicle, but still want to make a green choice,” said Megan McKernan manager of Automobile Club of Souther California’s Automotive Research Center. “AAA awarded the Ford F-150 XLT the 2017 pickup category winner in the AAA Green Car Guide for its best-in-class fuel economy, great visibility, spacious interior and exceptional handling.”

According to Ford, gas prices are 40 percent lower than they were five years ago, but consumers are still interested in getting behind the wheel of something that is fuel-efficient. A survey from AAA, as Ford points out, reveals that 70 percent of consumers rate fuel efficiency as a major driving point for a large purchase.

In terms of green awards, the F-150 4X2 was also put on the American Council of an Energy-Efficient Economy’s list of “Greener Choices,” in their annual environmental impact survey. The pickup was the only full-size truck to make the council’s list.

Alluring to those looking for fuel efficiency, this news will help the F-150 retain its status as the best selling truck in America.
