First CNG / Propane Capable 2016 F-150 Rolls Off the Line
We talk a lot about Ford’s EcoBoost line of engines here, since they typically are the bread-and-butter engines amongst the regular F-150s normal people buy. But fleet buyers often look for special things, like the ability to have vehicles that run off of propane or compressed natural gas. Many municipalities even require the purchase of alternative-fuel vehicles. To that end, Ford offers, on their 5.0L V8 in the F-150 an option to prep it to run on CNG or propane.
The 2016 F-150s are just starting to hit dealership lots, and we can now report that the first of the 2016 F-150s prepped for CNG and propane use just rolled off the assembly line in Kansas City, Missouri.
The CNG add-on also adds on to the range of the F-150. Combined with the gasoline capacity, the F-150 with CNG can run a combined 750 miles before running out of fuel. Less time fueling up means more time getting work done, which is a pretty sweet deal to us.
