BUILDUP! A 1987 Ford F-250 Off-Road Build
Things can get crazy when looking for the perfect truck to buy for a project. After all, it has to be able to fulfill the end result. Why buy a Toyota Corolla if you want to go mudding? Or why by a Ford F-350 if you want to floor it around a race track?
As I’m sure we can all agree, this is common sense, and all Ford fanatics out there certainly understand this (though we won’t speak for the bow-tie community). That being said, the starting platform for a build is one of the most important parts of the project itself.
FTE member, Mr Clickety Clackety, knows this first hand, and he went to great lengths to get the perfect rig to start his build. The goal for the project is to end up with a reliable (and affordable) off-road truck. However, the path to getting there hasn’t been that smooth so far. In summary, he hoped to purchase an F-350 from a co-worker, but he never heard back from him. He then took a seven hour bus ride to San Francisco to look at a truck, but his ride didn’t arrive to take him to his final destination! While he was waiting, his co-worker called to tell him that if he wanted the truck, it was his. After finally looking at the rig in San Francisco, he took another bus ride back home and decided to purchase the truck from his co-worker.
Long story short, Mr Clickety Clackety finally has the truck he needs, but it was a long and arduous process to get it. Oh, and did we mention that the truck turned out to be an F-250 and not F-350? Still, everything worked out in the end and the build is finally on its way!
