This 1974 Bronco Is an Explorer at Heart
A 1974 Bronco That’s Really an Explorer?
Have you ever sat around and wished you could have a Bronco that runs and drives like a brand-new truck? Of course you have! We’ve all been clamoring for a new Bronco for so long, that Ford eventually caved in and is now getting ready to build one! But when?
Though we could only wish that it will look like this 1974 example, the owner of this charming modern ride took things a step further. He built his very own idea of a “new Bronco.” That’s because this is only a first generation on the surface, yet everything beneath that body is 2008 Explorer!
This Frankenstein job began by modifying the chassis from an ’08 Explorer to fit the 1974 Bronco body. The 4.6 V8 and automatic transmission went in as well, along with the interior. It’s truly an amazing feat, regardless of whether you agree with the changes or not.
You can’t argue with what was done on the outside. The gorgeous satin Hunter Green, and metallic Champagne color combo truly shine (figuratively, at least). The U.S. Mag wheels are an awesome wheel choice, and they’re wrapped in proper 35″ BF Goodrich T/A’s.
We’ve seen a lot of Frankenstein jobs over the years, but this might be the best execution I’ve ever seen. It literally looks like a new/old Bronco from every angle. Ditching the capable original Bronco chassis is a controversial move, but it’s hard not to admire the work that went into this 1974 Bronco.
