1937 Ford Woody Ready to Take You on a Surfin’ Safari!
Because there’s no better way to see the coast than in a classic Ford woody!
While automotive trends come and go, we’re quite confident you’ll never see a “new” Ford woody. After all, these wood paneled rides were built in a time when style preceded function. Turns out, wood isn’t the best thing to make cars out of. Even if you’re lucky enough not to attract the attention of termites. But you sure can’t deny the appeal of an old Ford woody like this hot rodded 1937 example.
We spotted the classic street rod over at The Collector Car Network, where its wooden panels and slime green paint grabbed our attention immediately. We’re digging the fact that it’s more of a traditional build, complete with original frame and body. As is the case with most old woodies, however, all the wooden bits had to be replaced with new lumber. The builder also constructed a nice new top that looks absolutely killer.
Inside, you’ll find an interior worth of long summer cruises out to the beach. Most everything is covered in leather and looks very inviting. Modern amenities include rack and pinion steering, a Vintage A/C unit, and a custom dash that holds modern gauges. The whole package rolls on timeless smoothie wheels with wide white tires, which is really the only choice for rolling stock here.
The seller claims to have around $200k wrapped up in the package, which is pretty believable. Just the bodywork alone probably cost a pretty penny, not even taking into account the rest of the build. But the end result is worth it. You just don’t see many Ford woody wagons anymore, after all. And we can’t think of a better way to spend a day scoping out waves than in a timeless wooden street rod like this one!
