Can anyone tell me if manual locking hubs off a '84 Bronco II will
fit my '91 Ranger automantic locking hubs ,and if so is there anything else
I have to change?
Thanks;Steve

I HAVE A 92 RANGER STX 4X4. WHEN STARTING OFF IN FIRST GEAR(MANUAL TRANS) I
GET ALITTLE SHAKING. I HAD THE TRANNY CHECKED AND WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG.
I WAS WONDERING IF MAYBE MY 31X10.5 TIRES WERE TOO BIG FOR MY GEARS (3.27) ?
IF ANYONE CAN CLUE ME IN I WOULD APRRECIATED IT....

Generally, you can regear the spedometer drive gear to adjust your
spedometer to match a new tire size or axel ratio. I had this done by the
dealer a few years ago. He said if there is a 5MPH error, one more tooth on
the drive gear will fix. It did.

Hope this helps,
Gary

What kind of tranny do you have, and rear-end gearing?
Eric

ANSWER: Hi Eric, I am running Toyo Koygo 5 speed, BW 1350 transfer case,
8.8" rear end with 5.14 gears, Mosher 31 spline axles, Auburn posi. Tires
are 35x12.50". I am a bit worried about how the 5 speed will hold up...

Bob Marrs

I just had the same prblem in my '88 S/C 4x4 and it was a u-joint that had a
broken bearing cap. The stock u-joints are sealed and cannot be lubed. Mine
turned out to be dry. It was the joint just aft of the carrier bearing. I
replaced all of the u-joints with aftermarket type with grease fittings. Only
$15 apiece.

Hope this helps.
