this one is pretty close, especially since the ranger is almost the same as
an explorer. (or more acurately, the explorer is almost the same as a
ranger, it just has four seats and some stuff)

and so far, this is your best bet for an explorer list.

Well, you are right. My tranny didn't last long with those mods. When I
had it rebuilt, the tranny guy suggested converting to a Mustang Manual
T5, because the A4OD can't handle much power. He beeefed up the
convertor for me, since we couldn't find one that improve anything. He
also installed a Trans-Go shift Improver, which I don't even notice.

Maybe there are products available now for our trannies. But nothing was
really available then. Basically the tranny just kept on slipping. I ran
a 16.2 with just the SC bolted in, no other mods. But The truck felt a
lot faster the night I bolted it in and took it to the Street Races. I
was able to do burn my Tires through 3rd gear. It was prettry carzy.

I kept on bolting on more parts still coming back with 16.2 time slips.

This same problem happened to two other Automatic Rangers in my area.

Has anybody purchased or fabricated anti-sway bar disconnects for a 4x4
Ranger? I'm looking specifically forthem for a '97 Ranger 4x4. I was
looking at some others that I've seen for Jeeps and Toyotas, but haven't
been able to find them for Rangers. I was wondering if I could do
something as simple as remove the two bolts that connect it to the axle and
replace them with a pin and locking pin type of set up. Anyone else have
some idea on this??

greetings from a fellow ranger,

15.7 sounds about rightbut heres a tip for increasing it. There are two air
baffles to remove that gave me a 10 mpg boost.
1. In the wall of the passenger side eng. compartment where the air ayatem
feeds in, take off the 90' elbow. reconnect the assy. to the wall.
2. Now between the air filter and the intake there is a oval shaped air
baffel held in place by two hose clamps. Remove the hose clamps and the air
baffel. Replace the air baffel with a 4" diameter section of tubing. I used
a section of galvanized steel i bought at a hardware store. tighten the
clamps and start driving. Good LUck

I have a '88 Ranger supercab 4X4 XLT 2.9L 5speed and 3.73 gears. I just hauled
2,000 lbs. of wood pellets and the truck did great. Not a bit of clutch slip.
I run LT235/75R15 tires w/chrome modular steel wheels and I want to know if I
am doing any long term damage to my truck since I believe that I have far
exceeded the recomended capacity for hauling. Also it has a rebuilt long block
w/6,000 mi. 146,000 mi. overall. If I am doing any damage to the rearend is it
possible to swap in an 8.8 from a later truck or maybe even a 9 inch? Would
there be any suspension changes required with an axle swap? 2,000lbs still
left it an inch off of the axle which impressed me that a small truck would
even handle it. My grandfather's "91 F150 2wd longbed squats right down to the
axle with the same load!

Also,anybody have any tire recomendations? The tires I have run 50psi and
rides like a buckboard wagon.

I am thinking about getting a cab high canopy. Any brand names to look for
that are reliable and have good warrantees with factory body colors? Must be
fiberglass.

Not that I don't love hearing about Ford Rangers, but i was just wondering if
anyone out there had an Explorer??
I also have a question, I have a '98 Sport, and the rear wiper constently
misses a large patch at the top of the windshield. Does anyone else have this
problem? I would suspect it would only apply to the 1998's since they
redesigned the rear hatch and glass. I never had such a problem on my old
BroncoII, but it's rear window was flat, and this is curved.
