I'm sure people have answered this already but there are several options :

1) the modular motors all use the same bellhousing bolt pattern, it won't be
a problem to swap them except for the electronics ...

2) the 4R70W is being used in the Mustang's and such and there are guys out
there runnin pretty darned quick with them in the quarter, they may have tips
for hopping up yours as well.

3) luck doesn't really have a lot to do with scoring a Lightning motor, just
hunt around the aftermarket sites, I've seen em as low as $3400, but I think
the lowest I've seen recently is $4500 ... its not luck, its money.

Just my $.02

Well I just stepped up and plunked down $500 for some Jet Hot coated Hooker
Super Comps for the 400, which BTW is still sitting on my engine stand in
the garage. I've also made the decision to pull off the rockers and remove
the inner valve spring for the initial cam break in. Several people I've
talked to as well as both Crower and Crane recommend this so I think it's
probably the best idea. Just wish I'd thought about it before the machinist
installed the valves! Oh well...the good new is I get to buy another tool!

There are several new Ford Motor Company press releases on
the FTE web site. Ford slam dunks the competition with the
new Super CrewZer, it makes the Super Duty and Excursion
look small. Can you say tractor-trailor rig in your driveway?

Here's the list of press releases:

2001 King Ranch F-150 SuperCrew
2001 Ford F-650 Super CrewZer
Super Duty F-Series -- One in a Million
The 2001 Platinum Edition Ford Super Duty F-250
Ford Super Duty F-Series -- The Clear Leader in Customer Choice

You can find them at
