I finally did go to town and look at the cost of swithching to Mobil One for
Fairbanks this year. It was extremely expensive. I was told at NAPA that
5W-30 non-synthetic would do fine for my truck up there in the winter.
Would it do ok, or should I go all out and get the synthetic? BTW since I
never have used synthetic, would I get 5W-30 in the synthetic or a straight
winter rating like 20?? Don't know anything about synthetics.... obvioulsly

Thanks
Casey

Steve,
I don't know what part of the country your from
but if you have any coal mines around you should
be able to find the stuff your looking for.
Underground we refer to it as live rubber tape and
use tons of it to make high voltage cable splices.
The stuff we use is about 1.5 in wide and stretches
like Gumby's arms. So if you have any coal mining
buddies or mine supply companies around, check
them out.
Hope this helps,
Dave Zarnesky
