Album Title: Install a used Tommy Gate lift
Tired of manual labor lifting heavy stuff into your truck?
Used liftgates aren't hard to install. New installation bracket and hardware kits are reasonably priced (~150 bucks online) or you could fab your own. It's easy to see how a custom installation (like on a flatbed) would be easy to do. While I used a Tommy Gate, the theory can apply to similar systems. Tommy Gate has very good parts support so I wouldn't hesitate to get one I needed to work on. Wiring is very simple, and I'll add pics of that later.
Installation instructions come with the bracket kits, or contact Tommy Gate (or their distributors) customer service.
Harvesting:
You can quickly pull a Tommy Gate from a salvage truck by removing the bolts shown.
I used a 7-inch Norton abrasive cutting wheel in an angle grinder. Remove the bolts, push the gate onto the ground, and get a friend to help you flip it into your truck. (They are a two-man job to load.) Don't forget to get the electrical cable and underhood circuit breaker if fitted.
