Some 2011 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.7L engine may experience a loss of power due to air filter snow packing when operating in extreme snow conditions or when equipped with a snow plow. This concern may result in diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0299 and or P1247 setting. A new low restriction secondary foam filter is now available to resolve this concern.
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
To reduce the risk of vehicle damage do not start your engine with the air filter removed and do not remove it while the engine is running.
- Remove the air filter and clear the snow and ice from the air filter housing inlet. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 303-12.
- Remove and discard the secondary foam filter.
- Install the updated low restriction secondary foam filter.
- Reinstall the air filter and reset the air filter restriction gauge.
