ISSUE:

Some vehicles built before 10/15/2001 may exhibit a squeak noise from the rear leaf springs. This may be caused by the spring tip liners becoming dislodged or cracked in the spring leafs.

ACTION:

If diagnosis leads to failed rear leaf spring tip liners, replace with 2C3Z-5586-BA as necessary. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

To service rear spring tip liners, remove load from rear suspension. To remove the spring tip liners, it is necessary to pry the leaf springs apart individually, and remove and install liners one at a time (Figure 1). After removal of original spring tip liners, install new spring tip liners service part number 2C3Z-5586-BA ensuring that the clips are firmly located in the corresponding holes.
