This TSB article is a collection of service tips for expediting service repairs on the instrument cluster of 1997 F-150s.

ACTION:

Refer to the following Charts (Figures 1 through 4) to aid in diagnosing concerns related to the instrument cluster.

NOTE:AS WITH ALL ANALOG DISPLAY CLUSTERS (WITH MOVING POINTERS), THE CLUSTER MUST NOT BE LEFT FACE DOWN FOR LONGER THAN 20 MINUTES. AFTER THAT TIME, THE “GEL” USED TO DAMPEN POINTER VIBRATIONS CAN LEAK OUT (MAY NOT CAUSE VISIBLE DAMAGE, BUT WILL NOT FUNCTION TO SPECIFICATIONS).
