  • VARIOUS DRIVEABILITY SYMPTOMS – CALIBRATION UPDATE RELEASE – 6.0L DIESEL ENGINE

FORD:
2005 Excursion, F-Super Duty

ISSUE:

Some 2005 F-Series Super Duty and Excursion vehicles equipped with a 6.0L diesel engine may exhibit various driveability symptoms.

ACTION:

Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM), fuel injection control module (FICM), and transmission control module (TCM) to the latest calibration using WDS release B37.4 and higher. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraft.com. Refer to the following Service Procedure for a listing of specific applications, build dates and symptoms.

NOTE THIS CALIBRATION REDUCES EGR ON-TIME DURING EXTENDED IDLE.

2005 F-SERIES SUPER DUTY BUILT BEFORE 11/04/2004:

  • Buck/Jerk/Surge (Manual Transmission)
  • RPM Surge At Idle
  • Audible EGR Surge
  • Low Power/Smoke/Rough Idle Following A Cold Start That Corrects After Engine Is Warm
  • Speed Control Surge When Using Resume
  • Intake Flutter Sound And/Or Buck/Jerk/Surge At Steady State Throttle Just Before Downshift (Automatic Transmission)

2005 F-SERIES SUPER DUTY BUILT AFTER 11/4/04 AND EXCURSION BUILT AFTER 1/10/05:

  • Buck/Jerk/Surge (Manual Transmission)
  • RPM Surge At Idle
  • Audible EGR Surge
  • Low Power/Smoke/Rough Idle Following A Cold Start That Corrects After Engine Is Warm
  • Speed Control Surge When Using Resume
  • White Smoke Or Rough Run On Drive-Away After Short Soak

2005 EXCURSION BUILT BEFORE 1/10/05:

  • RPM Surge At Idle
  • Audible EGR Surge
  • Low Power/Smoke/Rough Idle Following A Cold Start That Corrects After Engine Is Warm
  • Speed Control Surge When Using Resume
  • Intake Flutter Sound At Steady State Throttle Just Before Downshift
  • White Smoke Or Rough Run On Drive-Away After Short Soak
  • Intermittent/Flickering Or Continuous Water-In-Fuel (WIF) Lamp Or A P0401 Fault Code

NOTE:ALSO IMPROVED EBP SENSOR DIAGNOSTICS.
