Publication Date: January 7, 2005

FORD:
2005 F-Super Duty

ISSUE:

Some 2005 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 6.0L diesel engine and built prior to 12/10/2004 may exhibit the engine temperature gauge reading at the top of the normal band (green) or the bottom of hot band (red), while the engine’s temperature is actually normal.

ACTION:

If no engine overheat condition is present, replace the instrument cluster. If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0217 (engine coolant over temperature condition) is present (stabilized ECT greater than 240° F (116° C)), and/or coolant is expelling out of the degas bottle, do not perform this TSB. Continue with normal diagnostics for engine overheat condition.
