|1999 SUPER DUTY F SERIES|
New design front rotors and hubs began production on March 8, 1999. The new rotors and hubs are not interchangeable with old parts. If the vehicle is serviced with the wrong part, the vehicle will experience symptoms such as: brake drag, extensive lining wear, brake shudder, and associated brake noises.
Make sure rotor or hub replacement is with the same one on vehicle. The following are the build dates for new rotors and hubs:
- March 10, 1999 F-250/350 Single Rear Wheel 4X4
- March 21, 1999 F-350 Dual Rear Wheel 4X4 and F-450/550
Vehicles built during the following dates may have either new or old parts:
- March 8 to March 10, 1999 for F-250/350 Single Rear Wheel 4X4
- March 8 to March 20, 1999 for F-350 Dual Rear Wheel 4X4, F-450/550
Identification for new parts:
The new hub has a 13mm thick flange, whereas the old hub has a 10mm thick flange.
After replacing the brake rotor or hub, rotate the wheel by hand to check brake drag force. The wheel should be turning easily. If the wheel is difficult to turn, a wrong rotor may have been installed. Remove the wheel and double check the installation.
Assure that parts are all of the old or new level. Warranty will only pay to replace with the part level corresponding to the build date. Replacement of serviceable hubs and rotors with later level parts is not authorized.
