  • FRAME REPLACEMENT MATRIX – SERVICE TIP

ISSUE:

Some Body Shops and Collision Repair Centers may find it necessary to replace the frames on some 2004-2006 F-150 and 2006 Mark LT vehicles.

ACTION:

Use the Service Procedure and frame replacement matrix chart to properly repair the vehicle.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Identify the current vehicle and frame level requiring replacement, if necessary, work with Parts Central Order Processing (COPS) to make this determination. With COPS assistance, determine the service level frame that is available in service stock for the vehicle.

NOTE:LOCATE THE FRAME TAG LABEL ON THE FRAME RAIL, THE LABEL IS LOCATED UNDER THE NUMBER 1 BODY MOUNT DIRECTLY UNDER THE “A” PILLAR ON EITHER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, HAVE THE 4 DIGIT SUFFIX FROM THE LABEL AND THE VIN WHEN CALLING PARTS.

Using the Service Frame Matrix (Figure 1), locate the vehicle being serviced from the side of the matrix, and the available frame from the top of the matrix, move to the square on the matrix where they intersect. That square on the Matrix will provide the other necessary parts to complete the service frame replacement.

NOTE:DUE TO THE COMPLEXITY OF THIS TSB, THE SPECIFIC PART NUMBERS ARE NOT CALLED OUT IN THE MATRIX, IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO USE THE LATEST LEVEL PARTS AS REQUIRED.

As an example, if you had a 2005 Job 2 frame, and COPS indicated the frame available for service was the 2006 frame, you would move across from the 2005 Job 2 frame row, and down from the 2006 service frame column to the square where the row and column intersect. Order the additional parts as specified in the square to complete the frame replacement.
