Some vehicles may exhibit no A/C, no temperature control, no trailer charge capability and/or an open junction block fuse #24. This may be caused by the A/C function selector switch having an intermittent short.
Replace the A/C function selector switch. The revised switch should reduce the possibility of a short. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
- Verify concern.
- Remove A/C function selector switch from A/C control and inspect switch for a letter A,B,C,D or a number 1,2,3,4. When looking at the switch with the shaft facing you, there will be a number or letter in the lower LH corner just above the “INDAK” scribe. Follow removal procedures outlined in the 1999 Super Duty F-Series Workshop Manual.
- If the switch has a letter A,B,C,D, the switch is suspect and should be replaced. If the switch has a number 1,2,3,4, the switch is revised and normal electrical system troubleshooting methods should be used to diagnose a concern. Check for shorts to ground in Circuits 296, 348, 441, and 439. Refer to the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM), Page 54-2.
- Check service replacement switch for number designation before installing. If service switch indicates a letter designation, order a new switch and do not use the lettered switch. Dealer service stock should be purged of all lettered switches.
- Replace fuse.
- Verify repair.
