This article supersedes TSB 07-8-7 to clarify vehicle application.

ISSUE:

Some 2005-2007 F-Super Duty vehicles equipped with a 5.4L 3V or 6.8L 3V engine built on or before 9/8/2006 may exhibit an exhaust system noise often described as a snap, pop, tick, or ping. The noise may be heard after the vehicle has been shut off, but in some situations, the noise may be heard with engine running or while driving.

ACTION:

Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:THIS TSB DOES NOT APPLY TO F-350 CHASSIS CAB VEHICLES.

Use Workshop Manual, Section 309-00 to replace the following parts based on vehicle wheel base length.

  1. For 137″ and 142″ wheel base vehicles replace:
    1. Y-Pipe.
    2. Catalyst Delete Tube.
  2. For 156″, 158″, 172″ wheel base vehicles replace:
    1. Y-Pipe.
    2. Catalyst Delete Tube.
    3. Extension Tube.
