Overview
Ford Ranger has been America’s best-selling compact pickup for 17 years running, offering genuine “Built Ford Tough” heritage in a high-quality high-value package.

For 2005, Ranger offers the features young buyers want most: hot wheels and cool tunes in the TREMOR package.

The TREMOR package includes five-spoke, 16-inch machined aluminum wheels and Pioneer® AM/FM “in-dash” MP3/6CD player, 510-watt multi-channel amplifier, 10-inch bass subwoofer, four 6×8-inch coaxial speakers in each corner, offered exclusively as an option on EDGE Super Cab.

Also available in the high-end audio category is the 290-watt Pioneer MP3 Sound Package, outfitted with an AM/FM “in-dash” MP3/6CD player, 6.5-inch bass subwoofer with enclosure, 5.25-inch polypropylene mid-range speakers in the front and 6×8-inch polypropylene dual cone “full range” speakers in the rear, available on EDGE & XLT super cab models.

Combining rugged appearance with protective function, skid plates are now optional on the 4×4 EDGE and select 4×4 XLT models.

Ranger is built in St. Paul, Minn., at the Twin Cities Assembly Plant.

Design and Equipment

The 2005 Ranger is available in XL, XLT, EDGE, FX4 and FX4 Level II trims, in Regual Cab and two- and four-door SuperCab configurations. A 7-foot box option is available on XLT Regular Cab Styleside models.

Key exterior design elements include aggressive valance and power dome hood structures and a nostril grille, consistent with the rest of the Ford Truck lineup.

The sporty and functional interior features seats with sculpted bolsters and seatbacks for comfort and support. Also available are optional sport bucket seats, leather-trimmed seating surfaces and a leather-trimmed steering wheel.

A comprehensive selection of packages allows customers to order a Ranger that fits their needs – with skid plates, Alcoa aluminum wheels and Bilstein shocks to blasting earth-shaking music with the Tremor package.

Powertrain
Under the hood, the 2005 Ranger offers three engine choices, including a 2.3-liter I-4 and two V-6 engines. The 2.3-liter DOHC I-4 produces 143 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 154 pound-feet of torque at 3,750 rpm.

Ranger’s 3.0-liter OHV V-6 engine is capable of producing 148 horsepower at 4,900 rpm and 180 pound-feet of torque at 3,950 rpm.

Ranger also is available with a 4.0-liter SOHC V-6 that produces 207 horsepower at 5,250 rpm and 238 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. All three engines are equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and are available with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Safety
Ranger includes four-wheel anti-lock brakes, second-generation air bags and safety belts with front pretensioners, outboard seating positions and side intrusion door beams.

LATCH child seat mounts are provided in the front passenger seat on all models. Ranger offers 24-hour Roadside Assistance on all models.
