2001 FORD EXPEDITION MEETS THE DEMANDS OF FULL-SIZE SUV
    BUYERS

“The Ford Expedition is the best-selling full-size SUV on the
market and has been since it was introduced as a 1997 model. For
2001, it is expected to continue its leadership by offering the
functionality, safety, security and comfort that full-size SUV
customers demand and have come to expect from a Ford SUV. From
weekday use to weekend chores, Expedition offers the towing,
interior roominess, power and maneuverability to deal with even the
toughest driving situations.” ? Doug Scott, Ford Division SUV Group
    marketing manager

    New for 2001

Expedition’s standard 4.6L SOHC V-8 engine has additional power
thanks to a revised intake manifold, and a new aluminum block has
reduced the weight of the engine. An engine block heater is now
standard on models sold in cold weather climates, and a Class IV
Trailer Tow Package has been made standard on the Eddie Bauer 4×4
    model.

Privacy Glass™ has been made standard on all models. The Eddie
Bauer model now has a standard HomeLinkr universal transmitter, and
offers a Rear-seat Entertainment System as an option. The XLT
Comfort and Convenience Group now has power heated exterior mirrors
and 16-inch cast aluminum wheels with all-terrain tires. The
optional XLT Premium Sport Appearance Group now includes 17-inch
    10-spoke cast aluminum wheels.

    Ready for Anything

The 2001 Expedition has the power and capability to take on the
great outdoors with ease. Outstanding towing and payload capacity,
proven Triton™ engines and a comprehensive list of performance and
handling features make Expedition perfect for adventurous,
    ready-for-anything customers.

Expedition’s 4.6L SOHC Triton™ V-8 engine is standard on XLT and
Eddie Bauer 4×2 models and produces 215 horsepower at 4400 rpm and
    290 lb.-ft. of torque at 3250 rpm(1). The 5.4L SOHC Triton™ V-8,
standard on the Eddie Bauer 4×4 and optional on XLT, delivers 260
horsepower at 4500 rpm and 350 lb.-ft. of torque at 2500 rpm. The
high torque at low rpm gives Expedition excellent power when
accelerating from a stop or when towing. It’s not just power that
makes Expedition such an excellent towing vehicle. The available
Class IV Trailer Towing Group on 4×2 models includes a Rear
Load-leveling Suspension System with rear air springs that help
adjust the height of the rear suspension based on payload. The
result is a consistent, smooth ride.

4×4 customers can choose the Four-corner Load-leveling Suspension
System that automatically adjusts the vehicle height at all four
wheels to match the load. The system also offers a kneel-down
position that lowers the step-in height by approximately one inch to
make it easier to enter and exit. In the four-wheel drive low mode
(4L), the system automatically raises the vehicle approximately one
    inch to improve ground clearance.

Plenty of Room for “Roughing It” Comfortably

Expedition gives customers a lot of space and flexibility. With the
third-row seat removed and the second-row seat folded down, it
provides 110.7 cubic feet of cargo space. Four cargo area tie-down
hooks are recessed below carpet level to secure cargo but remain out
of the way when not needed.

Standard power adjustable pedals are a convenience feature for
people who may be smaller or taller in stature. They allow forward
and rearward adjustment of the accelerator and brake pedals. Eddie
Bauer models include a memory feature for the driver’s seat,
mirrors, and accelerator and brake pedals that allows up to three
drivers to preprogram their preferred settings for these items.

An available Reverse Sensing System detects certain obstacles up to
six feet away from the rear of the vehicle, making parking in tight
places much easier. When the sensors detect an obstacle, a beep
sounds, and as the obstacle gets closer, the beeps increase in
    frequency.

A second-row 60/40 reclining split bench cloth seat folds flat for
added versatility and convenience. A third-row removable
fold/tip/stow bench seat provides added flexibility. Second-row
reclining Captain’s Chairs also are available on Eddie Bauer models.

    Peace of Mind

Expedition offers optional front-seat side-impact air bags that
provide enhanced protections for the head and torso in a side-impact
collision. A Second-Generation Driver and Front Passenger Air Bag
Supplemental Restraint System provides added protection in a frontal
    collision.

Expedition’s standard Remote Keyless Entry System has two handheld
transmitters and a programmable driver’s door keypad that lock and
unlock the vehicle without a key. The standard SecuriLock™ passive
anti-theft system means that only a key with the correct code can
start the vehicle. The system arms automatically when the key is
removed from the ignition and then disarms when the correctly coded
    key is reinserted.

The standard Illuminated Entry System turns on interior lights when
the remote key fob button is activated, maintaining the lights for
25 seconds, or until the ignition is turned on.

    Environmentally Responsible

Expedition is certified as a Low Emission Vehicle (LEV). It emits
approximately 50 percent fewer smog-forming hydrocarbon emissions
than allowed by the U.S. government. It also is 82.6 percent
recyclable by weight so it reduces the amount of waste sent to
landfills at the end of its automotive life. A variety of recycled
materials were used to create components throughout the vehicle,
including plastic soft drink bottles and caps, scrap tires, nylon
    carpet and cotton bale wrappers.

    Ford Expedition Customers

More than 233,000 customers purchased a Ford Expedition during
calendar year 1999, and it is on its way to another year of
full-size SUV leadership in 2000. Expedition customers are
typically active families looking for confidence and capability and
rugged adventure – families who typically venture off the beaten
path to find that adventure. Expedition is a member of the No
Boundaries – Ford Outfitters lineup – a comprehensive lineup of
    SUVs.

Expedition is manufactured at the Michigan Truck Plant in Wayne,
    Mich.
