2000 Ford F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCab

The Ford F-150 Regular Cab and SuperCab models for 2000 continue to win over customers by offering continuous improvements to the venerable Built Ford Tough F-Series lineup. These popular full-size pickups also continue with the variety of configurations and functional versatility that has made F-Series the number-one selling nameplate, car or truck, for 18 years.

F-150 Models

F-150 models for 2000 include both Regular Cab and SuperCab versions and will be joined by the 2001-model year SuperCrew.

The F-150 Regular Cab is the traditional three-passenger pickup, which seats up to three passengers and is designed primarily to meet the demands of a work truck user.

The F-150 SuperCab model has rear doors that hinge from the cab's C-pillar, can be opened when the corresponding front door is open, and can seat up to six people. The SuperCab is designed for customers who are looking for additional room in their work truck and still need a full-size pickup box.

The F-150 SuperCrew model offers a larger-cab alternative with a full back seat and four full-size doors. The SuperCrew seats up to six passengers and offers a 51/2-foot box to maintain pickup versatility.

Two special edition models also are offered - the Harley Davidson F-150 SuperCab and the SVT Lightning F-150 Regular Cab.

Body styles for the F-150 include a traditional Styleside design and a sporty Flareside, which has an integral step plate in the exterior box side between the cab and rear fender for more convenient access to the bed. The F-150 SuperCrew is offered with its own unique pickup box styling.

A variety of wheelbases and box lengths provide a wide range of choices for customers, with F-150 wheelbases of 120, 139 and 157 inches.

Powertrains

F-150 Engines include a 4.2-liter V-6 and two Triton™ engines - a 4.6-liter V-8 and a 5.4-liter V-8.

The 4.2-liter V-6 engine with split-port induction is standard on the F-150 Work Series, XL and XLT. It delivers 205 hp at 4950 rpm, and 255 lb.-ft. of torque at 3700 rpm.

The 4.6L SOHC Triton™ V-8 is standard on Lariat trim levels and on all F-150 SuperCrews. The engine is available as an option on other F-150 models. It produces 220 hp at 4500 rpm, and 290 lb.-ft. of torque at 3250 rpm.

The 5.4L SOHC Triton™ V-8 is optional across the board, providing 260 hp at 4500 rpm and 350 lb.-ft. of torque at 2500 rpm.

With a supercharger, the SVT F-150 Lightning 5.4L Triton V-8 produces 360 hp at 4750 rpm, and 440 lb.-ft. of torque at 3000 rpm.

The Triton™ V-8 engine line features 100,000-mile tune-up intervals under normal driving conditions and a fail-safe cooling system to help protect the engines from damage in the event of coolant loss. Improved availability of Triton™ V-8s in 2000 will help meet strong customer demand for these engines in F-150 SuperCab, SuperCrew, Lariat and 4x4 models.

A five-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard on Regular and SuperCab models, while a 4R70W four-speed automatic is optional (standard on SuperCrew). The 4R100 four-speed automatic is available with the 7700 Series Payload Package.

New for 2000, a lower-ratio 3.31 rear axle will be standard on many models for better fuel economy. The 3.55 ratio rear axle is optional on Regular Cab and SuperCab and standard on F-150 SuperCrew. Responding to customer demand, both axles are available with a new, narrower P235-series tires to further improve fuel economy (P225 tires are standard on SuperCrew).

The F-150's 2,385-pound maximum payload rating is best-in-class and the 4x2 Regular Cab model's 8,500-pound maximum tow rating is also tops in its class when properly equipped.

Both 4x2 and 4x4 drive configurations are offered. The 4x4 models have two-speed transfer cases with optional electric shift-on-the-fly capability, controlled from a dash-mounted rotary knob.

F-Series (under-8,500-pound GVW) Lineup Improvements

The F-150 lineup for 2000 offers a host of new comfort and convenience features, including: ù Comfort-enhanced flip-up 60/40 rear seat and an improved 18-degree rear seating angle in the F-150 SuperCab. ù New overhead console and left- and right-side visor vanity mirrors are standard on XLT and Lariat F-150 pickups. ù New driver's-side grab handle on the interior A-pillar of all models enhances convenience. ù Driver's side keypad entry system is standard on Lariat models. ù An exterior Cargo Light is now standard on both Work Series and XL models. ù Chromed steel wheels and 17-inch OWL tires _ previously available on 4x4 models only - are available on both 4x2 and 4x4 Lariat models. ù New exterior colors are Island Blue Clearcoat Metallic and Chestnut Clearcoat Metallic. ù Two-tone paint is now available on XLT Flaresides and XLT models when equipped with the Off-Road Group. ù A soft Tonneau Cover is now available on Work Series. ù Cab steps are now available on the XL model.

F-250 (under 8,500) Replaced

While the over-8,500-pound GVW Super Duty F-250 remains a cornerstone in the overall F-Series lineup, the under-8,500-pound GVW F-250 has been discontinued for 2000. Functions previously handled by under-8,500 GVW F-250 pickups are included in a new F-150 7700 payload option group with all of the attributes of the F-250, including a heavier frame, larger brakes, higher-capacity wheels and 8,800 pounds towing capability.

The 7700 Series Payload Package must be ordered with an 139-inch wheelbase, 5.4-liter Triton™ V-8 engine and 4R100 automatic transmission. This F-150 model retains last year's under-8,500-pound GVW F-250 capability for trailer towing and snow plowing.

F-150 customers have a broader-than-ever range of choices in 2000, with quite possibly the widest variety of models, cab and box styles, wheelbases, powertrains, standard and optional features ever offered by Ford on its best-selling full-size pickup. While it's the most popular mass-produced vehicle in the world, this variety of choices means each F-150 can in effect be "mass-customized" to the needs and preferences of its owner.

Sales and Manufacturing

Ford dealers sold 836,629 F-Series pickups in the United States in calendar year 1998 making F-Series the number-one selling truck in the U.S. for the 22th straight year.
