"It is fitting that a new sales record is established on the strength of two Canadian-made vehicles, Ford Windstar and Ford F-Series," notes John Radford, Vice President, General Sales. Last month's F-Series and Windstar sales were up nearly 22 percent.

February car and truck sales combined for a 3.1 percent sales increase (17,053 vs. 16,535). Truck sales of 11,992 were 12.8 percent better than last year's 10,628 units while car sales of 5,061 were down 14.3 percent versus 5,907 in February, 1998.

During the first two months of 1999, sales of 35,449 cars and trucks are up 16 percent versus 30,567. Year-to-date truck sales of 24,292 represent a 30.3 percent increase over 18,641, while 11,157 car sales are down 6.4 percent compared to 11,926 unit.

February 1999 sales highlights include :

• Ford F-Series sales of 4,883 were up 21.7% versus 4,013;
• "Five-Star" Ford Windstar sales of 3,666 up 21.6% versus 3,014;
• "Five-Star" Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable sales of 2,712 up 30.5% versus 2,078;
• Ford Mustang sales of 221 up 75.4% versus 126;
• Ford Expedition sales of 539 up 39.3% versus 387;
• Ford Ranger sales of 621 up 29.1% versus 481.
