Ford SYNC popularity rises, hits 2 million mark
If you've been talking to your car, you're not alone: Ford has officially added SYNC to more than 2 million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. The popular voice-activated communications and infotainment system reached the 2 million mark only 10 months after Ford delivered its 1-millionth SYNC-equipped vehicle, a 2010 Fusion Hybrid, to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Fusion makes the grade; named a AAA top commuter car
With Fusion, commuters can look forward to driving to work. Ford's popular midsize sedan has been named a top commuter car by the test-driving experts at AAA. According to the National Household Travel Survey, the average motorist spends 41 minutes a day traveling 22.5 miles to and from work, so having the right vehicle is key to saving money, being good to the environment, and providing comfort and safety on the road. AAA cites the four-cylinder Fusion as featuring an appealing combination of power, riding comfort and handling competence, with the Hybrid version offering even more economy. more...
 
Shutting down computers boosts carbon savings for Ford
Ford's commitment to energy efficiency now extends to daily computer use. Under a new program called PC Power Management, the power settings on Windows laptops and desktop computers are centrally controlled to reduce energy waste and optimize software updates. A managed shutdown of computer systems not in use further reduces energy consumption. Ford estimates the program will save $1.2 million and reduce its carbon footprint by 16,000 to 25,000 metric tons annually. more...
