BILL ELLIOTT – No. 21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion – FROM A DRIVER’S STANDPOINT, WHAT GOES THROUGH YOUR MIND WHEN YOU HAVE TO SIT THROUGH ALL THIS RAIN? “What’s unfortunate for us is unloading and only doing a handful of qualifying runs and then start the race from dead scratch. This is the first race for us with the rear spoiler, so we’re way behind the eight ball. We’ve just got to guess and go. You realize this is the type of situation you’re going to have to deal with from time to time, so we’ll just do the best we can and deal with it.”

 

AS SOMEONE WHO HAD A STRANGLEHOLD ON THE MOST POPULAR DRIVER AWARD FOR MORE THAN A DECADE, WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT ALL THE FANS WHO SHOW UP ON DAYS LIKE THIS? “I think a lot of them come for the experience and that’s nice. They come in and they’re able to go through the garage and see what NASCAR is all about, so it’s great from that standpoint. Now I just hope they get to see a race.”

 

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE BORING THAN WATCHING IT RAIN AT THE TRACK? “No, because the truck doesn’t normally have enough food on it if it rains. That’s the first thing that goes. You can go on just about every hauler in this garage area when it’s raining and everybody is either telling lies or eating – if not both.” (laughing)
