Ford puts Michigan on cutting edge of green technology
MAY 26 FORD E-NEWSMichigan just got greener, with Ford’s investment of $135 million to design, engineer and produce key components for the company’s next-generation hybrid-electric vehicles at several plants in the state. Ford’s new center of excellence for electrification will bring more than 220 jobs to the area, including the assembly of battery packs for next-generation hybrids that is currently being done in Mexico, and production of electric-drive transaxles that is now being handled by a supplier in Japan. more…

Fiesta Movement agents join with Roxy to show off fashion side
MAY 26 FORD E-NEWSMission three for Fiesta Movement agents combines two fun personalities – the Ford Fiesta and the brand Roxy. Teaming up with Roxy and a local artist, agents will create designs for T-shirts, hats and tote bags. They’ll even get to sit down with Roxy athletes to brainstorm ideas. One selected design will be featured as an insert in the summer catalog and as a limited production run. The event to wrap the mission will be held online, and it can be just about anything – a live chat, a streamed fashion show featuring the designed merchandise or a Twitter event. more…

Flex keeps turning heads with new Titanium model
MAY 26 FORD E-NEWSThe Ford Flex has style and personality, and now Ford is adding a top-end model with even more attitude. The Flex Titanium reflects the target customer’s love for personalization and delivers content for those looking for even more luxury. Flex Titanium is based off the Limited series but has significant additional detailing as well as new features. Flex is the first nameplate to get the Titanium series in North America. This nameplate strategy has been very successful in Europe, where most vehicle lines feature Titanium as the top-of-the-range model. more…

Ford adds suppliers to carbon footprint reduction plans
MAY 26 FORD E-NEWSFord is taking efforts to reduce its carbon footprint one step further, by surveying the 35 top global suppliers on their energy use and estimated greenhouse gas emissions. Ford’s goal is to better understand the carbon footprint of its supply chain and use the data to create a broad-based carbon management approach. The 35 suppliers represent close to 30 percent of Ford’s $65 billion in annual procurement spending. more…

kbb.com: Kudos to Ford for coolest, best road trip cars
MAY 26 FORD E-NEWS The new 2011 Ford Fiesta is one of this year’s Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18,000, according to editors of Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, who describe Fiesta as "better looking, nicer inside and even more fun" than the Honda Fit. Coolest cars were chosen based on safety, fuel economy, interior size, comfort and technology, as well as fun factors – which kbb.com calls that "je ne sais quoi that separates the dullards from the brilliant." more…

Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com also named the 2011 Mustang a 2010 Top 10 Road Trip Car. In a twist, the editors suggest a destination worthy of a Mustang road trip: Boston Harborfest. "The Ford Mustang is as American as apple pie, so why not drive to one of the biggest Independence Day parties around in something that screams red, white and blue," they said, noting Mustang’s fuel-efficient 305-hp V-6 or 5.0-liter V-8 engine and revolutionary Ford SYNC®. more…
