Super Duty F-Series -- One in a Million

Louisville, KY, September 20, 2000 - Ford's Super Duty F-Series trucks are officially one in a million, and the Company celebrated the milestone today at its Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. There, a very special truck rolled off the assembly line - the one millionth Super Duty F-Series to be produced since the vehicle's major redesign for the 1999 model year.

On hand for the celebration were Kentucky Truck Plant Manager Frank Foley, UAW Chair Dickey Sutton, Super Duty F-Series Marketing Manager Lew Echlin and Over-8500-Pound GVW Truck Vehicle Line Director Bill Osborne.

"The men and women of Kentucky Truck Plant have worked hard and with pride to build this important truck for Ford Motor Company and its customers," says Foley. "Building one million trucks in two short years is definitely something to celebrate."

Very Important Customers
Reaching this milestone would not have been possible without loyal Super Duty F-Series customers who have continued demand for the trucks and propelled sales of the Super Duty to approximately 40 percent of total F-Series sales.

One such customer is Larry Carroll, from Houston, Texas - the heart of the truck market. Larry was flown to Kentucky Truck Plant to join the celebration and to take possession of his truck - the millionth unit to roll off the line - during today's celebration.

"Larry epitomizes our Super Duty F-Series customer," says Echlin. "He has owned more than one dozen Ford trucks in his lifetime, he is active in his community, he leads an active lifestyle, and he estimates that he has put more than one million miles on his Ford trucks. How appropriate - the one millionth Super Duty F-Series truck going to a customer who has logged one million F-Series miles!"

Ford sells more over-8500-pound GVW trucks than any of its competitors combined. The Super Duty F-Series lineup, including Super Duty F-250 through F-550 is built at the Kentucky Truck Plant with supplemental production at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant in Mexico. The Kentucky Truck Plant employs more than 6,000 people, who also produce the Ford Excursion SUV.
