News .: 2008 .: 10 Percent Ethanol Tuning Notice

10 Percent Ethanol Tuning Notice

As part of America's efforts to reduce dependency on foreign oil, the presence of ethanol-blended fuels is wide-spread and growing every day. Despite the fact that many stations are not labeling the pumps properly to inform you of this, and that some stations tell you that there is no ethanol in the fuel, many of them do not even know of this.  Even for those who do not have any ethanol in their fuel, the trend of ethanol blends is rapidly growing and the trend is you are likely to see it at your local pumps in the upcoming months.

The presence of ethanol makes significant changes to the tuning requirements of your vehicle. 10% ethanol-blended fuel leans out the Air/Fuel ratio dramatically.  These differences will not show up on coolant temperature gauges and wide band A/F gauges (they are calibrated for standard gasoline).  Troyer Performance is committed to providing our customers with tuning to reflect the changes in America's fuel supply.

For those who are registered Roush supercharger owners, many of you are getting notices from Roush telling you that they have an update for todays lower quality fuels and asks you to send in your vehicles PCM so that they can update that tuning well, this, among other reasons, is why they are doing that. Those of you who have our Troyer Performance custom tuning should NOT allow Roush to alter your tuning unless you want to have to pay us to make new custom tunes all over again from scratch for you.  Instead, you should contact us so that we can make the appropriate changes and simply email them to you, and we do this at greatly reduced cost.

Those affected:

1. Non-stock vehicles with modifications which change air/fuel ratios.
2. Stock and non-stock supercharged vehicles, including those with factory supercharger such as the 1999 - 2004 SVT Lightning,  2002 - 2003 F-150 Harley, 2003 - 2004 Mustang Cobra, etc.  This also includes supercharged vehicles sold as "Flex Fuel models.....
