German Muscle Truck

These days, it seems like everybody and their mothers are cranking out some sort of modified Ford Raptor. And for good reason, of course. We Americans can't get enough of this off-road destroyer of worlds, whether it be stock or built to the max. But now that Ford is shipping the Raptor to other countries as well, we're starting to see our friends across the globe take an interest in building their own, unique, modified examples. And why wouldn't they? The latest is German outfit Geigercars, a reseller/builder known for tuning up all sorts of American muscle.

Tuning for Power

So the real question, other than the fact that it's built by Germans, is what separates the Geigercars Raptor HP520 from the dozens of other modified Raptors out there? Well, for starters, there's more power under the hood. Geiger turns Ford's twin-turbo 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 up a notch by adding a new air intake and retuning the ECU for maximum grunt. The result is a healthy 520 hp, which represents a pretty hefty increase over the stock output of 450. Not bad for a couple of simple changes.

Suspension Werks

The Raptor already comes with a pretty nifty suspension setup as is. The long-travel setup features Fox shocks and a tune optimized for handling just about anything paved and unpaved roads alike have to offer. And if that isn't enough, there are several selectable driving modes, like Baja mode, to help out. Having said that, Geigercars didn't try to reinvent the wheel here. They just added to the Raptor's already impressive ground clearance with a 4-inch lift kit.

She's a Looker

Of course, none of this kit means anything if you don't make your tuned Raptor look special, right? And we must say, Geigercars did a fine job making the HP520 look like the business. The black 22-inch Beadlock wheels give the truck a more aggressive look, which is aided by equally aggressive 37-13.5 R22 tires. Out back, you'll find a custom cargo area and roll bar loaded with enough LED lighting to get you out of the Black Forest.

Lap of Luxury

Of course, Geigercars isn't delusional, knowing that most HP520 (and Raptor, in general) customers will probably never take their precious trucks off-road. For those mall crawlers, a luxury package is available to make cruising around town a more pleasant experience. For an additional $9,345, you get a premium stereo, 360-degree camera, and satellite navigation. That might seem like a hefty sum, but with a base price of around $148,000, it's all relative, right?
