1. Wheel and Tire Upgrades

Wheel and tire upgrades are easily the most popular modification on trucks. Why? Because it's the easiest way to completely change the look of your truck. Whether you want to drop it down low on a set of huge chrome wheels or lift it up in the air and set it on some huge mud tires, there's no quicker way to dramatically alter your truck's appearance. Plus, all you need to change them out is a jack and a tire iron. Just make sure to have your new tires professionally mounted and balanced before installation.

2. Cold Air Intakes

Cold air intakes replace your restrictive factory boxes with a free flowing unit. They typically sit further away from the engine, meaning that they draw in cooler and denser air, which in turn supplies more oxygen to your engine. This, along with their straighter and bigger tubing, increase horsepower and torque. Cold air intakes may not boost power to the extreme levels that some manufacturers claim, but they are a good way to add some horses on the cheap.

3. Aftermarket Grilles

Swapping out your factory grille with an aftermarket one is a quick and easy way to completely change the look of your truck. There are tons of options available, from billet pieces that bolt in behind your existing grille to full on, custom milled grilles. Prices range greatly, but there are plenty of nice ones that can be had for less than $200. Plus, they're generally just bolt-ons that only take a few minutes to install.

4. Lighting Upgrades

Automotive lighting has come a long, long way in the last decade. LED is the king now, thanks to its extreme brightness and super efficiency. You can add a light bar to the top or front of your truck for looks and safety, or even some extra lights in the bed for your next off-road excursion. Modern lights look awesome and give you extra piece of mind next time you're out in the dark.

5. Performance Chip/Programmer

Your truck's factory tune is obviously going to be a bit restrictive, in the name of safety, reliability, and liability. Aftermarket programmers and chips unleash that hidden horsepower by allowing you to create a custom tune. You can tweak your truck's settings to optimize power and fuel economy and even change between tunes based on what your needs are at that particular time. For a few hundred dollars and about 30 minutes time, it's hard to beat a good programmer's bang for the buck ratio.
