1988 F250 XLT Lariet, 4x4, 460, C6, reg cab long bed.
I'm in the process of replacing the rubber bushings with urethane bushings in the front end. I removed the leaf springs and found this shim sandwiched between the leaf spring and the axle housing, only on the passenger side. Is this a factory installed shim, or something an alignment shop might install? There wasn't one on the driver's side.

I made the mistake or removing mine thinking it was an expendable item. I took my truck for alignment and the caster number on the passenger side was WAAAAY off. Jerk tech never noted this to me and I didn't realize it until I left. I later looked at the spec sheet they give you at the alignment shop and noticed the numbers were off. After doing a little research (as you are inquiring about) this is in fact a factory installed shim.
Its been a year and a half and I still haven't gotten mine back in. Do you remember which way the shim went it? Which way did the skinny end point? That's my problem.
I figured my truck needs TTB bushings so I'll have the shop put it back in when they have the axls out.
Good Luck. The TTB suddenly becomes a unicorn when you try to work on it. No one knows much about them. LOL
edit: for what it's worth I have a 96 f-250 PSD w/ 4x4... i think you have the same setup.

The D44/D50 TTB's are like Trump (though there's likely much more wrong with him than any ttb lol). If your not a fan,it's a whole lot of fun to hate.

It was flat, with square corners. I didn't see any taper, or skinny end vs fat end. Obviously the hole lines up with the leaf spring "pin" and that lines up with the hole in the axle housing. Other than lining up the hole w the pin I placed it according to the wear-marks I saw. That was my best guess given what I could see.
