20mm or 18mm dowel motor?

Can someone tell me if this motor is 18 or 20?
1FTSW21P06EA55574 is the vin. Chassis was built in 6/5, but the motor has 2006 on it.

Thank you for any help.

Is this for head replacement? If so see below.
Here's a flowchart for head replacement.

And some other info for you.

For identifying by the block itself you'll need the serial number on the back of the drivers side below the mating surface of the head.

What matters is the build date of the engine. There are a couple of ways to determine this, (1) there is a number stamped into the drivers side cylinder head on the end facing the passenger compartment and (2) there is a sticker on the FICM that will show you a build date. Now this is assuming that the cylinder head and or FICM are original to the truck.

The switch to 20mm dowels (commonization) was for engines manufactured after Jan 11, 2016.

Stickers are gone off the ficm. I have not tore into it yet to check any of the stuff in the post above. I will try and look at the engine serial number when the weather gets better. I was hoping to get the parts ordered ahead of time. Thank you all for the help.

If your FICM mounting is the style that has the front bracket attached to the air intake and your oil dipstick is the T-handle type, then chances are good you have a pre Jan 2006 engine.

I thought commonized heads were designed to fit earlier models as well as later models, i.e. would work for both with appropriate dowels/adapters. Am I wrong here?

When I replaced the heads on my 05 6.0, that is what I was led to believe, that the communized heads that I received were not only better than cracked heads, but also considered to possibly be an upgraded newer design. Was I buffaloed? (BTW, they were ordered as "rebuilt" but came in boxes from International labeled as "new part".)

I wouldn't say you were buffaloed. The commonized heads were in preperation for use on the 6.4 in MY 2008. The heads are 20mm and the 6.0 block is 18mm which requires the use of the step dowel. The see above for the differences.
The OP is questioning his so he can order the correct kit, 20mm or 18mm.

it is the Ficm mount to air intake and T oil dipstick and I suspect it is 18mm.
Thanks for the help!

My truck was built in January of 2006, I ordered what the tech thought was the correct dowel sized gaskets (I assume the 20mm, but that was 4 years ago), but they weren't. It cost me another set of headgaskets as my buddy had slightly opened the packaging. Not enough to remove any parts, but I was denied a refund based on that.
My point is that I would check everything I possibly could before ordering.

Yup, you were right on the cusp Torr -- my engine build date is the month before my trucks assembly (build) month.

My 06 was built in August 05 and engine was built in June 05 but has the 2006 emissions sticker on it. Your engine build date will be earlier than your truck build date.
