Is this Bed damaged?

Looking at this 2006 F350 DRW for purchase. Current owner says bed not damaged. Doesn't the center of bed floor rise compared to sides? The tailgate pics show a significant gap a tops where tailgate meets bed wall.

Is is this a major functional issue?

Why ask us...looks like you can see it just fine.. The bed is trashed..I doubt it could be fixed....or put a come along at the top of the bed and pull in whilst you jump on the edge in the middle...prob make it better...

What would cause such a gap?

0n truck not old what's her name.

But seriously would it be an accident that also cause frame damage? Could overloading the truck cause that issue and frame damage?

The floor being bent up is what spread the sides. Looks like it has new bolts too. It definitely has a story to tell but it's far from trash. Easily tweaked back. I straightened 2 SDs but the opposite and you'd never know it.
I'd use it as a bargaining chip and get it for less.

The main issue is that, if the seller is going to lie to you about a defect as obvious as this, then he's going to lie to you about anything else that may be more serious than this.

one thing it can be fixed but the other is price. If it's the right price then get it. Doesn't look to bad to me. Not perfect but not to bad

I have to agree. Your not getting the straight good on what has gone on with this truck. If you have concerns about this truck and whethre it has been in in an accident, it's time to really check this truck over, crawl undreneath the back of it and see if there are any other new parts or parts that look replaced or that dont line up. Check the door lines and open and shut the door s with medium force are any doors hard to close, do the lines all line up. check the front fender and hood lines, then open the hood and check the supports and look for any new screws or bolts look at the radiator crawl under the front end and have a look at the fender well and the front end components check the frame for any recent welding

I would pull a carfax and loo and see if it has any recent accident information and see if there was an insurance claim and how much,

There is obviously some issues. there is definitely new bolts on the bed. So either this is a bed from elsewhere or, the owner tried to fix something with this bed and put new bolts on and this is the best they could fix it it

Pass.

Looking at the drivers side top bed rail it looks like a 5th wheel maybe dropped onto the top of the bed rails. You can see it in your photo...

Bed & sides are definitely not aligned the way they should be. Seller hiding something or do they think they come from the factory this way?

Run it by a body shop and ask how much to straighten it out. Take that amount, double it for the PITA factor and proceed accordingly. Makes me think what else is not right that the seller is hiding/lying to you about ... and believe me, there will be other things!

This x 10K.

Unless the rest of the truck is new-in-the-wrapper-clean, and he's giving it away, I'd walk away. Nothing p*sses me off faster than some guy lying to me on a deal. Once that has happened, I don't care if he's selling at half price. I'm done with him. And if it's a dealer or business store front, I'll never darken their doorstep again.

There's way too many trucks out there to buy to even entertain this seller's BS for a minute.
