F350 Dually Tire Sizes - How big can I go?

Curious to anyone who has put larger tires onto their stock rims on a dually. What size can I fit on there before they touch at the bottom? (illegal in BC)

How about spacers? What size can I get away with if I use them?

Are spacers dangerous?

Post pictures and sizes if you can!

Anything larger than 1/4 inch will not leave enough threads for the lug nuts and 1/4 inch really doesn't do much. And they are a little bit of a pain to use because you have to be careful to center the wheel manually on the hub before tightening the studs. There is a company in California that makes 1/2 inch hub centric spacers but only on the disclaimer that you swap out your lug studs with longer ones (which they provide). Ford's hub centric design is why people swap wheels.

From my research I have found that an lt255/80r17 has been recommended for previous generation dually's. There are only two tires available though, the cooper st/maxx and the bfg km2. I plan on going with the coopers when my stock tires wear out.

Quality hub centric spacers are fine. I have some 1.5 inches ordered and am waiting for delivery now. Some tire shops don't like them for liability reasons because there are more lug nuts to keep torqued but as long as that's done they are fine. I plan to swap on some 285/75s.

I'd love to see some install and finished project pictures of this when you get to it! Also curious what your inside gap will be.

I'd be happy with 285/75r17.. It's almost a 34" tire. I just want something to fill up the well a bit better like a SRW. Gotta get the trailer out for a test drive and check the level.. The new bed is so much deeper, my clearance bed rail to trailer seems tighter now.. Hard to say though, it's not parked on level ground.

I'll make a new thread with some pics. I too had lots of trouble finding much online about duallys so maybe it'll be usefully the others.

The spacers I used Bolted on to the inside wheel and then the outside wheel bolted on 180deg offset from that with a hub in the centre of it for balancing
Worked great

You can also go with a 255/80 17 which is 33.5" tall and you can run with no spacers the only tire I have found in this size is a bf Goodrich mud-terrain t/a km2

That's cool.. I don't mind the spacers. I've seen them, the design seems trustworthy to me and the weight I'm dealing with is about half what the truck was designed for. Nitto makes a few flavors of the size we were talking about earlier, I've had Nittos before, I liked them, they wore well.. And BFG is so damn proud of their tires it's crazy. I've never been a huge fan of their compounds either for a pavement pounder, I'm sure it's good on the trail but 8900 lbs on the street will eat them right up.
