f250 not going faster than 30mph
Hey guys this is my first post, I have an automatic f 250 70 360 that will not go faster than 30mph it will just start revving really high as if its not changing gears and wont go faster. it all started when I tried cleaning the carb by spraying carb cleaner down the throttle body. I then took out the carb and rebuild it after it was giving me problems and also changed the fuel filter, also I put transmission fluid so it isn't low. It also seems to want to stall as soon as I give it gas.

Welcome to FTE. The first problem you have is the engine revving which is the transmission slipping. That can be caused by low fluid, the wrong mix of fluids in the transmission or as previously stated disconnected module. The second problem is something that you did when you rebuilt the carb. Could be choke not working. Was the engine fully warmed up when it would die. Was the choke not opening up when the engine was warm. Is the float adjusted or messed with. Work on figuring out the carb first then go back to the trans problem. Good luck, and post up what you have figured out or if you need specific information on something. There are a lot of knowledgeable people around here , and willing to help you figure it out.

On the 30 MHP gig it sounds like when you took the kick down rod off the carb you moved it back towards the firewall and down towards the tranny to get it out of the way. Then forgot to hook it back up to the carb. This would tell the tranny to be in passing gear. Since it hasn't up shifted yet it would stay in 1st gear.
When you rebuild the carb did you remember to put the check ball and it's weight back under the venture cluster? #73 and #75 in the carb pic.

Mr. Studmufin,
It looks like the throttle linkage is missing a part on the carbs side plate throttle ball where you have the spring put on the ball neck, where is this linkage piece?
And the other linkage pieces are not supposes to be bent up.
Also do you have the tranny vacuum hose in place behind the carb on the vacuum tree in the intake manifold. next to the power brake vac. hose if it has PB.
